FAQ
Are these per-station prices like GasBuddy?
No. These are state and national AVERAGE prices for each grade, from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). Crowdsourced per-station prices are not available from a free public source, so we show trustworthy averages instead — use them to gauge your area, then check your local station.
How often do these update?
The EIA publishes retail gasoline and diesel prices weekly (Monday), and this page refreshes with each run. The date shown is the week the prices are for.
Why is gas so much more expensive in California and Washington?
West Coast states have higher fuel taxes, stricter clean-fuel blend requirements, and tighter refinery supply, which keep their averages well above the national number. Texas, Georgia, and much of the South are consistently among the cheapest.
